it's Friday

Friday is Ray's day home, he did the Christmas lights while I was in town (bp check, shopping, etc). We only started a couple years ago, and just buy a couple of strands each Christmas, so don't laugh. Being out of town, there isn't much point with a lot of garden decorations, as nobody would see them. And I can't do tacky. Clean and simple, simple, simple. But it is visible from the main road, a few hundred metres from the house, so that counts. Trying to work out how to get a decent photo, and I don't have a tripod.

We had a lovely night scrapping in town last night, lots of Christmas goodies (I made fruit mince pies for the first time, they turned out good, and Kate made gingerbread). The ladies gave me goodies, and I gave them gift cards, which entitled them to pick out some papers and cardstock from the stash. No meeting till January now.

I've been scrapping! It feels good. Grace's birthday:

And I've got a theme going for this year's Christmas pictures, can you tell?

I emailed Dover again today, and got a reply this afternoon, apologies, and the missing book is on its way. Not that it will be much good for this Christmas.

And Australia Post appears to have lost our blank cards and envelopes - the supplier sent them 2 weeks ago, they just haven't arrived. He checked with his post office, and they just shrugged and handed him a complaint form. He has given me the details of the parcel, so I will try to follow it up on Monday too. I don't know how a parcel with correct address and return address can go missing. And I don't see why we should be compelled to pay to register our parcels, to guarantee their safe and timely arrival - isn't that the service we pay for in the first place? Kate is pretty disappointed, she wanted to make cards, so I will probably get some super large sheets of cardstock from the local newsagent and hand-cut cards for her to use (I've done it before, which is why I was buying pre-made blanks this year! lol) And I am changing feet, and will have to do something different for our cards - cutting it a bit fine timewise now. I am really really peeved with Australia Post.

So tomorrow will be organising photos of the kids to make a christmas postcard greeting, and I will get them printed early in the week, should be able to post them by the end of the week and they should make it to everyone by Christmas. And maybe I will get those Christmas cakes made tomorrow too.
