gotta stop

I gotta stop reading the messageboard at 2 Peas - seriously, it's too demoralising. I don't scrap to be published, I don't scrap to suit a magazine, or even the gallery browsers at Scrapbook-bytes. I damn well scrap for me and my family. So why do I feel so gutted that my layouts barely get 10 hits, and a comment or two? Why this constant need for affirmation from people I don't know, who don't know me? (and I'm really not looking for comments, and I really do appreciate my online friends who look at my pages and encourage me, really I do) I dunno, I'm a conundrum. Or just a dill.

So here is a layout that breaks all the "rules", and would get barely a look in any online gallery. It's simple. The photo is black and white. There is only one photo on the page. I hardly used any of the "kit". But I like it. And it gives me the chance to keep this photo of Kate and make it a memory, to keep her exactly as she was in this moment so that I can look back and remember her right at this instant. It is a simple extension of the primary reason why I take all these bloody photos anyway, to remember my kids as they are growing up, to keep the memory of them at all these different ages, so that when I am old and drooly, I can look at these photos and have happy thoughts.

Oh yeah, and this layout was made with the kit of Correen Silke's that I got the other day at the Scrapdish sale, Daisy for You. I'm so proud of me for using another kit within a week of buying it! LOL

So that's my little rant. I'm sure there will be more to come down the track. Just needed to give myself another little smack across the back of the head and put the joy back into scrapbooking. I seem to need to do that a lot lately. No more pea-boards for me.
