bad shopping news

It appears that the SBB store is down for a bit longer yet - the hosting company has contacted Amy with the news that the server which hosted the store caught fire, and all the data has been lost. So the entire store will have to be rebuilt from scratch - I can only imagine how much work that is going to be. No shopping there for a little while. Hope it doesn't put too much of a dampener on the convention for all the designers, and Amy.

So, still in need of a shopping fix, I have been doing some serious browsing of different stores - and taking advantage of a few convention-week sales too!

I couldn't resist a couple of paper sets at Scrapgirls - I don't generally buy from there, as their prices are a bit higher than most other places. But with 30% off, I picked up something I have had my eye on for a couple of months, and something new that I noticed in an ad-mail earlier in the week - Black Forest by Talina Waterson.

Black and white kits seem to be growing more popular, and I noticed a classy kit by Retrodiva at Scrapgirls too - with some splashes of colour, this could make wedding, or other formal photos look really something special. I just love the alphas too - Love Story.

Also noticed a new set from Julie Mead, beautiful autumn papers, with rich textures and tones, and some interesting elements and stamps too - A Bit of Fall Foliage.

A designer I haven't visited before - Shabbyesque designs - sent a preview of a rather nice looking set called Inspired by Chai. I can't quite categorize this one, but am severely tempted - the patterns are quite unique (I'm partial to carefully thought-out stripes too), and I like the colour palette. Kate liked this one, looking over my shoulder when I was browsing, so maybe I should get it. Tempted.

Congratulations to Pri (from Rakscraps) for making the DT at Shabbyesque too - you go girl! Love to see girls from the Southern Hemisphere making good in the digiscrapping world.

Lilach Oren has a wonderful new monochromatic kit - Box of Chocolates. I especially like the use of old-fashioned advertising and line-drawings, this could be a really fun kit to use, and versatile (recolour, recolour, recolour LOL).

And finally, I have no idea how I stumbled over this site, as I don't think I have ever seen this one advertised on P4D or the other main Yahoo mail-groups (oh the joy of randomly surfing weblinks!!). But worth a peek is Something Blue Studios, I really like this gal's designs! And just look at the awesome patterns in the Joyful Holiday Christmas papers (you know I'm a sucker for Christmas stuff!)

I think I am going to do my annual Christmas shopping marathon tomorrow - Target has a toy sale, and there won't be many more before Christmas, so I'd best make the most of it. There are also four birthdays to shop for in November - what kind of bad planning was THAT?!! LOL

And Photobucket is giving me the pip these past couple of days - sometimes I can't get in, or it just doesn't respond. So I'm giving the blogger photo option a try - it's just a bit slower for me, I think.
