just stuff

Trying to do some Family Allowance stuff without sitting on the phone for an hour yesterday, I finally tried the website, to see if I could do what I needed to there (just as an aside, I couldn't). But imagine my --ahem-- amusement, when I found this little gem on the front page of the government website. You learn something new every day. INCOMELY??!!? Very tempted to send it to Rove. I did mention it to the guy I spoke to (eventually) on the phone, and had a good laugh with him about it - I'm sure he was going to send it around the office too. Our taxes at work. NOT!!

Michael was expected this afternoon, but hasn't been well, so he didn't come. The kids were a bit disappointed, so they watched Star Wars (A New Hope) this afternoon. I can't watch it now without incredible sadness about Anakin. How my perception of Darth Vader has changed! Back in the 80s when we saw these for the first time (okay, late 70s too) he was just evil, the bad guy that everyone was expected to hate. But filling in the backstory creates so much tragedy in the character, and it is more difficult to see him simply as the bad guy. The Emperor, still the bad guy.

Digiscrap Divas had their "CT Welcome" chat this afternoon, and played a fun game of Bingo and gave away some amazing prizes - each winner of a round of bingo won at least $20 worth of gift cards from the designers. I won LaWanna's new spring kit. I'll have to make something purdy with it to show my appreciation.

The DigiChick is celebrating the re-launch of their site this weekend, and I got along to the late speedscrap with Kimberly and Mari. This was a bit of a challenge. I haven't taken part in a speedscrap for the longest time, as I just was never very happy with the outcomes. (Jury is still out on this one too.) I started to scrap this photo a few days ago, but couldn't make it work, so had the photo sitting on a blank canvas ready to go. I like the sketch, and the colours are good too (it is the swatch for the new site), but I struggled to bring them together, not having any elements to exactly match. And the kids all 'get' the line under the photo (gotta love Jackie Chan).

Ray had a load of gravel delivered this afternoon for the crossing at the drain - it sure looks like a lot of dirt to move. He's been working on the chook pen today, repairing and securing it some, it would be such a shame to lose the chickens to a fox (and Josiah would be completely devastated). The chicks are almost half-grown, but still hard to tell how many hens and roosters we have. Josiah let them out into the general population today.

Tomorrow is Harvest Festival at Church - yes, I forgot. I'll be raiding the cupboard in the morning. Kara and Jeanette are coming to play after church, so the girls are looking forward to that. Hopefully I will get to scrap something too.
