can I say it's COLD!!

Now, this is something extraordinary for us. Most of Victoria has been hit by an unusually cold weather pattern, and places that never see snow, are seeing snow. Ray phoned this morning after he got over to the Valley to let us know that it was snowing across the mountain. What an ideal opportunity to take the kids for a play in the snow just 20 minutes away, rather than the day trip it would normally be. Isaiah has never seen snow, and Noah wouldn't remember it, as he was barely one when we made the last trip to the snow. So after our basic homeschool tasks, we grabbed coats and boots, and headed up the mountain.

Amazing!! I had never been in falling snow, and it was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. Silently, softly, huge flakes drifting down around us, I was mesmerised. Truth be told, I was more excited than the kids! We stopped at the "lookout" at Willung South, though there was nothing to be seen due to the fall of snow around us, and the kids hopped out for a brief play in the snow, throw a few snowballs, taste some snow on their tongues, and jump back in the van. I don't think they were prepared for just how cold it would be!

But the snow started falling more thickly, so we headed home. I made several stops on the way, to take photos, and this dead tree with its fragile covering of snow is one of my favourites.

When we got back to town, we could see large areas of snow in the hills all around, so we plan to drive out and find some more tomorrow, maybe even closer to home! Off to check that brass monkey!

*waves* Hi Deb - I followed your blog link on RAK {thanks for the comment on may true love layout btw} - Reason I'm 'dareing' to post, instead of just 'lurking' like I normaly would. I just wanted to say your snow photos are awesome!! I was looking at them and was thinking Omg I wish it snowed like that over here - would love to live in america with snow like that - Then I read the entry OMG THAT IS VICTORIA {{roflmao}} - guess I tend to forget we *do* get snow like that over here!! Can you send some of that up to Queensland??? :)
