bad bad blogger

Ever feel like your life is rushing out-of-control? Well, this week has for me, for sure, even though I thought the mad long-weekend was over. I guess with a holiday on Tuesday, the week is half over before it even seems to start. Thanks to my cyber-friend who emailed me to check I was okay when I went awol from blogging for a couple of days (its nice to be missed). Love ya, Pri!

So Tuesday was Kate's 13th birthday, and my sister (with her hubby and kids) and my Dad (with Ros) came to visit for the day. Shortly after they arrived, I had to head back down to the hall for the pack-up, so they all had late morning-tea while I was gone, and the kids tore around like mad things with their cousins (they are just the best friends too, and love to spend time together). When I got back it was time to fire up the barbie (Aussie slang for bbq for my international friends), and get lunch.

So it was almost afternoon tea-time when we finally got to birthday cake and singing Happy Birthday; as we were hip-hip-hooray-ing, Hope leaned in and blew out the candles, what a riot! She was so pleased with herself! Kate just dissolved into a fit of giggles, that little girl was just so quick to jump in and blow out the candles. So we lit them again, sang at 3-times speed, hip-ray, hip-ray, and Kate got to blow out her own candles. The kids enjoyed the pinata that Kate made, although not quite everyone got a bash at it, they all got some lollies. And yes, that is Caleb, always the clown, positioning himself under the pinata with his mouth open, ready for lollies to fall!

Everyone left about 6pm, and we had leftover bbq and salad for dinner, not that anyone was really very hungry. Totally exhausted.

Wednesday didn't start out quite as planned. I was laying in bed, thinking of getting up to go for my walk, when Noah came in to tell me that the bottle of Pepsi in the freezer had exploded. OOPS. When Jen had arrived the day before, I had put the bottles she brought into the freezer to chill quickly, and promptly forgot all about them. Still, it could have been worse - the 2 litre bottle of lemon squash had not exploded, and the kids got to drink it like slushy later in the day as it thawed. And defrosting and cleaning the freezer was on my to do list, I just hadn't planned to do it at 6am in the morning with a coating of frozen pepsi! So no walkies for me, and it kinda put me out of step all day. The kids were pretty cranky, and I was pretty tired, but we got through the necessities, homeschooled, went to the bank and supermarket, and crashed in the afternoon.

Thursday almost seemed back-to-normal, until Ray's Mum and Dad showed up for a surprise visit early after lunch. Now, they live over 2-hours away, so I really don't expect to see them, but they were on their way home from a 3-week holiday, so it was nice to catch up. They couldn't stay to see Ray, as he gets home too late on Thursdays (he works over in the Valley, and often doesn't get home till after 6pm those days).

Friday morning as I came through the gate from my walk, I spied this little fellow making a real mess of getting over the fence, and dashed inside to get kids and camera for a look.

He sat on top of the fencepost, and I got quite close, got lots of photos, but spotted dried blood on his chest, and looking under his chin there was a small wound on his neck. He stayed around all day, and headed off during the night - I sure hope he will be okay. Ray spent most of yesterday reapairing all the flyscreens on the house - nearly every one was torn, some were even missing (broken in the shed). After the hot night, sleeping with windows open to cool the house, we were all covered in mosquito bites, so they really needed attending to, although he wasn't confident that he could fix the flimsy aluminium frames. He did though - isn't he the best!

Today two of the boys were going to play and stay over with a friend in town, so I went shopping when I dropped them off, and bought my first christmas ornament for this year (a cute santa who sits on the edge of a ledge with dangling legs, and the new reindeer beanie kid). My bad! I felt so rotten when I got home, my head was feeling heavy and starting to dully ache, so I crashed on the couch after lunch for a two-hour nap. Everything just catching up with me, I guess. Late this afternoon, we went down to the hall so Ray could help me bring all the benches and tables back out of the Sunday School room, and I was on the roster to clean the Church and do flowers too (which wasn't easy, given the lack of flowers in my garden at the moment).

I haven't done any scrapping, though I have been trying to create another kit (not happy with how the colour-scheme I chose is working out), and done a bit of shopping (love sales!) Next weekend we are heading down to go to my sister's baby shower, and catch up on more birthdays. Then there are 3 more kids' birthdays, and it will be just a month to Christmas. Yikes! I really need to do my cakes, and start making some cards.

That's my catch-up. Hopefully I'll get to my kit-picks tomorrow - did I mention how glad I am that the store is back at Scrapbook-Bytes? LOL

Nite all.
