scrapping again

it's so good to be scrapping again! yay me!

Truth be told, there are some awesome new challenges going around the place - problem is, being summer holidays downunder, I am missing most of the chats that are going on (10pm US chats are mid-afternoon here, when we're at the pool or something like that.)

So, I really wanted to be in on the It's a chick's life . . . scrap it! challenge at the DigiChick - more like a weekly workshop, great inspiration to scrap the whole year's events! I'm looking forward to seeing where this one goes. And even though I'm late (they've started the week 2 challenge already), I scrapped the first challenge:

Trish Jones - Paradise papers, Nancie Rowe Janicz - schmootzy frame, Maya - secret garden stamps, Shabby Princess - black stitching (warp brushed), Trish Jones - postage cancellation and family wordart, Kim Christensen - petals, Ali Folendore - alpha numbers and black brad

And in keeping with my resolve to really journal about stuff (and blogging is really helping in this regard), here is what I wrote:

When I came to compose our annual Christmas letter, to send to family and friends, I was a little stumped to come up with anything interesting to tell about. We don't go anywhere, we don't take holidays, we stay here, and work, and homeschool, and play right here on the farm. And we are content. So it was a great year. We made several trips to visit family, to celebrate birthdays, and to just connect. I had my 40th birthday, and feel more comfortable to be myself than ever. We went to the Bairnsdale airshow, and got sunburned. The kids began learning to swim with Vicswim, and I feel happier that they are a little bit safer around water. Ray rebuilt fences, and we sold our first big batch of cattle, so we really feel like farmers now. There was snow in the hills in August, a once-in-thirty-years occurrence, so we drove up and had a play. We are all a year older. Noah started homeschool and lost lots of teeth. Kate decided to grow out her fringe, and wore lots of hats to keep the hair off her face. Grace and Kate squabbled a lot, Isaiah and Noah are becoming the best of mates. Ray and I are still in love after 19 years. It was a very good year.

And I even scrapped with my own kit! I really wanted to use the Candy kit, so went hunting for a photo to use - this pic of Kate and Isaiah was perfect! and I even used the alpha!

We're off to the dentist tomorrow, check-ups for everyone. I'm sure it's going to be a horribly hot day, but it has to be done. This is a new dentist for us, so I hope he's good with the kids (and me, the typical white-knuckle dentist-chair whacko from way back). I don't like going to the dentist. Pray for me (wink).

Wow... these layouts are gorgeous! Can I ask what font you used for "The Year That Was"? It's perfect for journaling. Your work is incredible.
