stinker
Not a good start to the day - I woke just after 4am from a horror of a nightmare, and tired as I was, I just didn't want to go back to sleep. All day the precious face of my little neice, Grace, has been before me, as vividly as in the nightmare - I hate that our brains can create such havoc! I got up and had a cuppa, and did the rounds of the blogs, to divert my imagination.
By 8am it was getting hot, the wind picking up from the north (so HOT), and the air full of smoke. There are numerous bushfires up in the Valley, and the smoke is hanging about. We got away in good time for the dentist appointment, and I managed to snooze most of the way (Ray drove, of course).
The new dentist was very good, gentle with the kids, and patiently explained to them what he was looking at - he even showed the other kids stuff, they were so interested! Not too much needs doing - a couple fillings for me (I knew that - an old one had fallen out last year!), one for Ray, and some tiny cavities to be filled for Josiah and Kate. Next visit, he will help us organise an orthodontist for consultations - we have long known that Grace would need a lot of work, and we will get the others assessed for prioritising of work to be done. Better start saving our pennies!
We didn't finish there until after 11am, by which time it was HOT, and the air in Traralgon was so full of smoke and ash from the fires in the nearby hills, it was totally unpleasant. Ray had booked the van for two new tyres, so we went into the shopping centre while the tyres were fitted, and picked up some odds and ends. Grabbed some munchies and had lunch on the way home. Fortunately the smoke had cleared on our side of the mountain, but I really feel for people with asthma or other respiratory problems in the valley at the moment. Praying for safety for those fighting the fires, and hopefully there will be some good rain to relieve the pressure.
Totally blotted when we got home, drank a gallon of cold water (almost) and took some panadol and flaked on my bed for two hours. Still hot, but storms rumbling, and a few spots of rain. Trying to cool the house down, it isn't really working yet.
I caught up my photo blog, if you wanna take a peek (link at top of sidebar) - I really want to have another go at keeping this going, it's such a great record of the year!
And I saw on Heather Ann's blog that she is keeping an online album of her 2006 layouts as she does them - I might need to start another blog for that one too. It would be a great way to keep them all together (seeing as I tend to post layouts all over the place), keep a running tally, and would keep the credit information safe too, in the event of a site crashing (and they do that, from time to time, and everyone loses everything - eeek!)
Ray is watching the cricket (go Aussies!), I am gonna go crash with him, and try to get an early night - I really need it. Tomorrow is another day (channelling Scarlett O'Hara for a minute!)
